And #Squaresoft! Yeah that was it! Was scrounging my memory for that one as well! Find me on facebook if you're on! Would love to know what you're up to nowadays!

Re: Design / デザイン

Yeah same for you man. :) I often look around to see if anyone remembers anyone from back then but seems hardly anyone does or just don't post about it. I personally haven't talked to anyone for probably about...a good 8 years? Think I last spoke to Al (Omnislash) about 2003. PhantomLD, Moogle1, Kuku, Lucentbeam, Kardos and all them I haven't spoken to probably ever since I moved from California back in 1999 and lost my kat123 email. Think things just fell apart about the time Terraflare was gone. #Squareone we had after #Squaresoft! I do believe. I ran my own site till about early 2000, think you can still find a trace of it on some random host I had it on lol. I closed my Seiken Densetsu 3 site probably in 2006-7ish.

Well I'll keep an eye on your site, definitely nice hearing from you again though. :)

Re: Design / デザイン

HELL YEAH! Hey Aeran I do remember you quite well,
I was "Flammie" or "FIREDRGN" back in those days. :)

Re: The Trick is to Write Less

Ha! Consider getting a disqus commentator account (which is what I'm using right now!). It records all your comments and the replies to them in one place, so you can more easily follow your conversations and let other people, who think what you say is cool, to follow and find you as well!

Re: Getting Work Done Without Priorities ／ 優先順位がないよう、仕事をする！

Very true! We aren't machines! Although there's research that shows that we almost are, lol. Based on our past experiences, if we've been observed enough, people can pretty much predict our every action and reaction. Scary thought, huh?

I do agree with you that downtime is important, though. Heck, I even think that 50% of your day needs to be downtime (including sleep) in order for us to really give our 100% during our uptime!

What we do during our uptime, though. Now THAT'S a completely different story.

Re: Getting Work Done Without Priorities ／ 優先順位がないよう、仕事をする！

It seems like a simple concept but humans are not machines! We have millions of thought processes running through our brains everyday so it's not easy to learn to filter out what is really important.

It would be interesting to confirm this but I would think that even the most successful, awesome people in the world need some downtime. A few minutes? half an hour? something to clear their minds, motivate them, so they can prepare to give 100%.

Re: (Not So) Social Networking in Japan／日本での（あまり）ソーシャル（ではない）ネットワーキング

Stephen!

Lol, actually I haven't been touching Mixi at all, although I do have an account.

The thing about Mixi, though, is how everyone wants to be anonymous. It makes it so much harder to keep in touch with people!

Interesting about needed a cell phone to sign up, though. I wonder if that means unwanted outsiders have been signing up and causing trouble?? Interesting thought.

I do hope that more Japanese users adopt Facebook, though. And like you said, I think it will. It's a new, refreshing approach to social networking here =D

Re: (Not So) Social Networking in Japan／日本での（あまり）ソーシャル（ではない）ネットワーキング

I may be pointing out obvious things here but...

I agree facebook will boom in Japan soon. Most social networking sites these days like facebook are available in multiple languages. One of my mixi friends was asking how to use facebook . I gave a brief explanation and pointed out that you can change the settings into 日本語。 Also, you probably noticed that Mixi added a twitter like or facebook wall like feature (最新のつぶやき, つぶやき一覧) 。I don't use twitter but at first I thought this was very similar to facebook because you can make comments or just click　イイネ (the same as facebook like).

If Japanese people want to social network outside of Japan facebook and twitter have huge advantages. One thing I think I noticed recently was that if you want to be a new mixi user, you need a Japanese cell phone email now. -> So how can a new user outside of Japan sign up for mixi? *disclaimer, if my thoughts don't make sense it's early ^^

Re: (Not So) Social Networking in Japan／日本での（あまり）ソーシャル（ではない）ネットワーキング

Gerry!

That's actually encouraging to hear! I guess the thing is that in Japan, when a trend hits, it HITS!

It was also interesting when I started following a certain group of Japanese twitter users. Tons of people would follow me every day, and as long as I followed back and thanked them for the follow, I'd get another batch waiting for me the next day.

I found out that there's a large community that promoted the use of the refollow application in order to really increase their followers. And so I found a lot of people who had like 20,000 followers and only 183 tweets, lol.

It's interesting to see how it's done differently.

Now I have a feeling that the Japanese number of Facebook users will be getting up there soon =D

Re: (Not So) Social Networking in Japan／日本での（あまり）ソーシャル（ではない）ネットワーキング

Hi Raiman,

That's a cool map! I heard that Twitter users in Japan have set a world record during the World Cup, something like 3283 tweets per second! And they say it's even higher than the peak rate during NBA Finals! So I think adding that new Twitter button would be great for Japanese readers :)

Facebook, on the other hand, is not even close to 10% of Mixi user base, I think the number is like half of Twitter's. I'm not sure how it's going to catch on but I hope more Japanese people will start using Facebook too.

Re: Finally, My Own Website!

Thanks Gerry!
